The main award was jointly presented to Professor Hugo ka Canham for Riotous Deathscapes and Professor Siphokazi Magadla for Guerrillas and Combative Mothers: Women and the Armed Struggle in South Africa. Honourable mentions were awarded to Isabel Hofmeyr for Dockside Reading: Hydrocolonialism and the Custom House and Sandra Swart for The Lion’s Historian.
