Abstract (English) : SciELO South Africa (SA), is celebrating its 15-year milestone of advancing open access scholarly publishing in South Africa during 2024. Since its establishment in 2009, SciELO SA has played a pivotal role in increasing the visibility and accessibility of South African research by providing an inclusive platform for quality, peer-reviewed journals across a wide array of disciplines. This anniversary not only marks a decade and a half of achievements in bridging local and global scientific communities but also underscores SciELO SA’s contributions to building a robust, open-access research infrastructure aligned with international standards. Managed by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and supported by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), SciELO SA continues to promote research excellence, transparency, and open science in the region. The 15th-anniversary celebrations acknowledge the efforts of authors, editors, and partners who have championed open access in South Africa and the broader African continent, paving the way for more inclusive knowledge sharing and sustainable development in the global south.
