More Detail
Abstract (English) : Diabetes has emerged as a critical public health concern in South Africa. It is one of the leading causes of death and a significant source of morbidity. Without urgent action, the cost to our health system could exceed R35billion by 2030. This webinar brings together experts, researchers, and advocates to spotlight education, early detection, and policy innovation — key to reversing the growing diabetes crisis in South Africa.
The key objectives of the webinar are to:
•Raise awareness of diabetes risk and the importance of early screening.
•Advocate for stronger policies and smarter use of the Health Promotion Levy (sugar tax).
•Promote equitable access to treatment and patient education.
