Abstract (English) : In celebration of World Intellectual Property Day 2026, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World South African National Chapter (OWSD SANC) will host a mentorship webinar focused on the role of intellectual property (IP), innovation, and research commercialisation in advancing women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Arts, and Innovation (STEM).
• To inspire and equip women in STEM with practical insights on IP, research commercialisation, and innovation pathways
Highlighting how women scientists can translate research into impact, enterprise, and leadership.
This webinar is aligned with the OWSD mentorship programme, which seeks to strengthen women’s scientific leadership, entrepreneurship, research commercialisation, communication, and collaborative networks in South Africa. Framed within the spirit of WIPO 2026 – “Ready, Set, Innovate!”- the webinar will provide a platform for women scientists, innovators, postgraduate students, and early-career researchers to engage with women thought leaders and practitioners on how to protect, translate, and scale innovation for impact
