More Detail
Abstract (English) : As climate change continues to challenge conventional agriculture, game meat offers innovative solutions for food security, livelihoods, and ecosystem conservation—particularly in climate-vulnerable regions. In response to the ongoing climate-induced challenges and the need for evidence-informed solutions, ASSAf, through its Forum on Integrated Climate Change, in partnership with the AWEI, is launching a webinar series to explore the untapped potential of game meat in building climate-resilient and sustainable food systems. This inaugural webinar will set the scene and lay the groundwork for deeper engagement in future sessions, featuring insights from leading scholars and experts in the field.
Objectives of the webinar were to
• Explore the role of game meat in promoting climate-resilient and sustainable food systems.
• Highlight the nutritional, economic, and environmental benefits of regulated game meat production.
• Discuss policies, regulatory frameworks, and community models that enable sustainable wildlife utilisation.
